Smoke Alarms

As your landlord, we’ve installed one or more smoke detectors in your home. These may be battery-powered or mains-powered, depending on the age of your property and when the detectors were last replaced.

We will check your smoke detectors during your annual gas safety inspection. If a mains-powered detector is faulty, we’ll either replace it or change the battery if that’s all that’s needed.

Outside of this annual visit, it is your responsibility to replace the battery in your smoke detector. Just like your carbon monoxide detector, we recommend testing it regularly. If it doesn’t respond when tested, please contact us right away.
